Tea, Figs and Digestive Juice er Biscuits

Hi Everybody!!! We nursies are doin' everything we can to make Jackson comfortable and are busy preparin' his house for his homecomin' tomorrow!!!!!!! Check out our team of nurses! Asta, from Oz that Legend is also here with us. (She makes me really, really nervous...only today I dropped a full bedpan on her paw. I get the hand shakies and dropsies whenever she's around me! Oh, I hope I don't get a bad grade on this assignment. I even volunteered to skip Jackson's Pawty on Aire Ruby to put in an extra shift for extra credit after that pesky bedpan issue.)
Asta gave us the assignment of making the gallons of tea required for Jackson' s recovery. OK...SO...first I got the tea...Lipton, of course. What else is there??
Then I brought the water to a boil on the stove. And poured it into cups...let it sit for a while...VOILA....tea....right??? Hmm....THEN, I got this message from Eric....it's got me a tad worried.
Nurse Lacie. You are just what the doctore ordered!! and you look positively Matronly in your uniform. Jackson will soon be home, horray!! Make sure you have plumped up his pillows and he's a stickler for hospital corners on his freshly ironed egyptian cotton bedsheets on our mini-me's bed. Remember when you make the pots of tea in the Brown Betty teapot always warm the pot first and 1 teaspoon tea per dog should be adequate. I gave him some Jacksons Of Piccadilly tea bags so you can use those if you prefer. You did get a supply of digestive biscuits didn't you? They are the most pawfect for dunking. I'll be coming to visit you on Friday and when you nursies have a break later in the week I've arranged a special date for you, Asta and Agatha with ME!!!!And only ME!!! Oh I'm wigging my wag in anticipation!!! Be a good nursie. Wags, Eric x

Ok...I can do the square corners on the freshly ironed sheets...NO PROBLEM! BUT...this tea...preheat the pot?? I put the tea kettle (painted brown and named Betty) in the oven and caught it on fire...Oopsie...thankfully, the J's are understanding about fire in their kitchen.

One teaspoon of tea? HUH??? I threw a bag in the cup...teaspoon??? Am I supposed to cut the teabag? Hmm....Piccadilly teabags? I thought Lipton was everydog's favorite???

AND HE THINKS I LOOK MATRONLY??? GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

I looked on the puter and this is what convinced me to use Lipton tea.
As for DIGESTIVE BISCUITS......that sounds like something Scruffy might utilize in some odd fashion. You dunk them????? IN WHAT?

So I'm thinkin' about Archie and his little issue with the Fig Newtons....those seem to be the most nootricous for Jackson to use (in smaller quanities!) for tea dunking. MMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

Don't they look DELISH??

I admit I'm puzzled at Eric's instructions....thoughts, anyone?????

Actually Lacie, it's a teaspoon of loose tea per person and one for the pot. You bring the water to a gentle boil in the kettle, then warm the teapot (tradition calls for a Brown Betty...which doesn't even have to be Brown) then, depending on what kind of tea you're pouring, you either serve it with sliced lemon or milk and sugar cubes or honey. Oh, and some scones and clotted cream would be lovely.

NOW MISSY, enough of civility! I need to have a word with you!

I'm getting murmurings from overseas as well as threats from ARCHIE that you're his girlfriend. Excuse me??? I do not go after another dog's lady friend. That's worse than stealing someone else's tennis ball, after they've gotten it nice and slobbery.

Lacie, you got some 'splaining to do!

Your confused suitor,

Petey

Stick to dropping bed pans. You will have such a mess to clean up that you won't have time to worry about tea.

Ummm...maybe you can convince Asta DU that she is the ONLY one who can make a proper pot of tea. Probably the truth, Ruth.

Oh dear, I only know how to drink tea out of Mommy's cup - I don't know how to make it! But I bet that Jackson will appreciate it no matter how it's made!

As my Mommy is also from a colonial country, she understands the tea and digestive bikkie thing. English people boil water and then fill up a teapot. Yes, a teapot. then you toss the water, and reboil the water. The idea is to warm the teapot first you see. Then you fill it up again and drop real tea leaves (not baggies) in a little contraption that dips into the teapot. Then you cover it with a tea cosy and let it brew. Then you have your tea. Complex, huh?

Digestives are very delish says Mother. She also recommends you make Jax some marmite sandwiches. All English dogs or colonial dogs like me LOVE Marmite (www.marmite.com). Most Americans HATE HATE HATE it. I'm sure J1 and J2 love it like my Mom does and as a result, Jax loves it too. It's very healthy and full of vitamins.

Good luck Lacie, I know you can do it!!!

Now, Nurse Lacie, don't forget that Jackson like his tea made in a teapot, served in a mug on a tray on the floor...
He shared mine like that last visit!

That is just way too complicated. I got dizzy just reading the instructions. You might need to send out for tea.

Definitely get the Digestive bikkies, the ones with chocolate on top, they are gorgeous when dunked in tea, they would surely help Jackson's recovery.
Would try to keep clear of those figs... erm ...was thinking of the consequences if you see what I mean...
Happy nursing
Molly and Taffy

PS. If you get stuck with the tea I am very good at making a decent brew. Molly xx

Personally my mum is so lazy she would just buy the pre-made kind and pour it in a kettle and warm it up a bit....hehe
Your a great nurse. Don't be nervous at all. You are wonderful

Oh Lacie...

The British are so obsessive over their tea...we can never prepare it the way they do....drink a few pawtinis and make sure everyone else does too and no one will notice how the tea was made....in this house everyone drinks tea...never coffee and we just use the tea bags.....

Lacie, Good day to you.

I'm coming down to see you to give you some private tuition and maybe some on making proper tea too, he,he,he!!! But Lipton's tea? What the blog is that? And tea is ALWAYS with milk, not lemon or honey...dog forbid.

Now Marmite sandwiches are PAWSOME. You and the 2 leggededs tried it? Use HP sauce please when you serve bangers and mash at lunchtime. I'm sure that will be one of Jackson faourite meals along with a roastie dinner on Sundays. Got all that? See you there.

Wiry wags, Eric.

Hey we didn't know Asta Down Under was a nurse..how about that.
As for tea...we don't know much about it either. B sticks a tea bag in a tea pot...D says what on earth is the point of that...stick it in the cup!

We are partial to the Starbucks version of hot chai ... Booker like s to lick the cup and they always give him a plastic cup of icecubes for himself. Sooooooooooo much easier ... we just have to resist the scones!

Mom is a wacky tea woman. She does not buy her tea in bags she gets it in tins and its LOOSE just like a bunch of dirt in a tin??? she has to use a spoon and there is filtering and making sure the water is just hot enough and it only steeps (wtf is that?) for a certain amount of time.

its like freakin science or something.

hey Lacie, you have to make tea the british way, but don't worry about that. we're worried about your date with Eric. are you ready for this? our advice to you is to not look matronly. you are too cute and can we bark it, "sexy", to be accused of looking matronly. just put on your best stinky-juice and you'll be fine.

woofs.

Hey Lacie, tea making is a very complicated business. It requires lots of practice. I'm rather partial to Earl Grey myself as I have a rather sophisticated palate. And digestive biscuits are ALWAYS required to dunk in the tea. Only one dunk though or they crumble up and drop to the bottom of the cup. See, I told you it was complicated! J X

I don't know how to make tea so I can't help you out on this one, Lacie. But what you wanted to do sounds just fine with me.

As for your appearance, I think that you look very professional with the stethoscope draped around you. And that color blue looks great on your fur.

Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

What a great looking bunch of nursies you all are! Lacie, you do NOT look matronly! We hope Jackson is getting better very quickly and won't need you much longer.

Hey, Lacie Girl!

I say let the Brits make the tea. Usually, as I understand, it's a spot of tea with a whole lot of milk or cream. You get an A for effort, though.

Stella & I are thinking of you, girlie. We know you're trying to sort things out with all the dogs in your life. You're such a sweet thing. Just go with your heart.

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley
