Scruffy's in Big Trouble...

Ok...I'm typing for Mumsie as she is lying on the sofa with all of her muscles turned to mush. She let us out about 6PM....without our electric collars. Five minutes later...no longer, she opened the garage door and like a good Lakie, I was sitting on the steps with my tail down. (We had just gotten home from the vets...I have a bladder infection, and am feeling under the weather.)
But Scruffy was GONE. Like vanished...like he's never done that before. I know he chased a deer. He knows when his collar is on....(Mumsie said she's going to staple it to his neck after this...) and he just took off. He LOVES to chase cars...Mumsie figured if she found him, he'd be lying on the side of the road, hit. She called our neighbors...one took off in the car, our pet sitter took off on her bike, and the other Lakie in the neighborhood's owner searched on foot. Mumsie walked in circles hysterical. Our 14 year old pet sitter found him in 10 minutes flat wandering the neighborhood behind some houses. There, of course, are very busy roads bordering this neighborhood. But Scruffy could have gotten hit in here just as easily...he runs right at the cars. Isabel tackled him.....and Mumsie brought him home in the car. I frankly think if she hadn't been so glad to see him, she woulda killed him. He's covered in burrs. So is Mumsie. She said we'll see just how much poison ivy is in our woods, probably by Friday when she has it all over her.
How we found him within 15 minutes from when he took off is a miracle. We have great neighbors, and there must be a lota Scruffy love looking out for this foxy wire.
Mumise may never recover. The above jail cell is Scruff's new home for the next decade.
Grateful barks,
Lacie

Oh Scruffy, I'm so happy they found you. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you. You need to remember to stick around home. That's where the food, treats and soft beds are. Why go anywhere else?

Your pal,
Kirby

G'day Scruffy and Lacie,
So you had an adventure ay Scruffy. It tends to get the pinkies pretty worried. Not really a good idea matie. I could tell you countless stories about our adventures including one where Willow & Lucy disappeared from 5.30pm until 3am next morning. That wasn't a good night.
We hope you survive your time in your new abode.

Oh my, Scruffy must be careful next time. My hoomans would never let us out by ourselves coz there are many people who don't care about dogs & will just run over us for fun. Glad that you all found him! It's a miracle! He could have gotten seriously injured or stolen.

Glad you got home safely Scruffy. Not sure we fancy your new cell, but with a few toys and a few bones perhaps it will be more habitable?

Hope you feel better soon Lacie.

Hey, kiddos!

Funny that, given the chance to run, Scruffy makes a break for it and Lacie is the good pup waiting for her mumsie. Go figure...

Lacie, I hope your pee-wally infection clears up soon. That's NEVER fun.

Scruffy, I hope you know how lucky you are, bud. That you were okay sounds like a miracle. Good thing your neighbors love you and are willing to search for you. Are you really going to live in that jail? When did your mumsie have time to build that??

Goober love,
Stanley

I smell trouble. But Scruffy wasn't a good boy. Hope he learned his lesson & not take off just like that. It's one thing to chase but another to totally disappear!

Just glad Scruffy is home now!

I sure hope you are feeling better soon. Recovering from surgery is hard enough without being sick, too. When are you getting your stiches out?

Oh Scruffy...we're so glad you're home safe & sound. Your poor Mom! Our Mom felt like she was gonna throw up when we showed her this story. You'd better be on your bestest behavior now.

I just read about Scruffy's escapade. Remember when JH disappeared for all of 4 minutes and Mom was about to pass out with worry when he came running back up the driveway? That means we can truly identify with what your mom was feeling. )I was so happy when he came home, I even kissed him, something I never do. He kisses me.

Don't do that any more, Scruffy old pal!!! Or you may not live to be an old pal!!!

I've pulled that a couple of times myself, and once My Family had to come home from work to help corral me. I had a great time, though, and would probably do it again if I had the chance! Don't ask me why, I just can't seem to help myself. :)
